About Kelso – the leading tool for teaching conflict management skills for children Pre-K through Grade 5. Home of the beloved choice wheel, this conflict resolution teaches children the difference between big problems and small problems and empowers children to solve the small stuff.
Staff and children participate in community initiatives throughout the year. From Community Food Drive to Adop-a-Family to Shave Your Lid for a Kid. Children are citizens of our community and they are eager to share ways to be involved and help others.
All communities need role models and leaders. Our leadership program helps teach kids to feel comfortable in and addressing large groups of children, having others respond well to their suggestions and build interest in setting the direction or style of play for their peers. We believe leadership can be nurtured and grown and, in turn, build great amounts of self – respect and worth.
We celebrate true creative art with young children that focuses on the process not the product. Your child may come home with their sleeves a little bit damp or paint in their hair. Remember: your child probably worked with a friend, solved a problem, created a masterpiece, learned a new skill, had a great time, developed new language.
We are committed to providing opportunities to play, both indoors and out. Active games, park and gym play are some of our favorite activities.
The kids love clubs – and their imagination is the limit from cooking club to anything goes club, if your kids can think it, we will help them create it. These unique opportunities help children build their sense of identity and connect with peers that share similar interests and developing skills.
Family involvement helps to enhance the program, creates a more positive experience for children, and helps parents to be in tune with what is happening at Juvenescence by establishing a connection to what is happening in the program and extending to real-world activities that happen in the home and in the community.
Community field trips are great opportunities to learn about the larger community, have fun, and practice the skills of citizenship, respect, and
safety. We LOVE field trips and adventure outside our centres as often as possible. We swim, explore Provincial Parks, play Mini – Golf, visit the Zoo and Sparks Science Centre and so much more!
